Since Action Air Conditioning has been in the AC business in Tampa Bay for over twenty years, we have extensive experience consulting with customers who are just emerging into the market for a new air conditioning system. We list the most popular questions asked below but please contact us if you would like more information about new air conditioner systems, air conditioner repair or maintenance in the Central Florida area.
Will anything help control the humidity in my house?
Your air conditioner is the main source that will help control the humidity in your house. A dehumidifier will also help pull out more humidity in the house.
How often should I change or clean my filters?
It is recommended that you change your filters once a month unless you have a special filter. For instance, a Trane CleanEffects filter only requires you to change it once a year.
What do all those rating numbers (SEER) mean to me?
The bigger the SEER (seasonal energy efficiency rating) number, the more efficient the system will operate.
Should I cover my outdoor unit in the winter?
No, covering your unit in the winter time will restrict the unit from working efficiently.
Is there any advantage to setting my thermostat fan to “ON” so the fan runs constantly?
Yes, if you are planning on having people over your house for a party or special occasion. This will keep a constant air flow throughout the whole house and keep the guest feeling more comfortable.
What size system do I need for my home?
It is recommended that for every 700 square feet of your house it requires one ton of air. For instance, if your house is 2,100 square feet then your house needs a 3 ton system.
Can I replace my outdoor unit even if my indoor unit works fine or vice versa?
No, not if you have an R-22 system, because they no longer make R-22 systems. The best solution is to replace your whole system. You will get a better SEER.
How close to the outdoor unit should I plant shrubs or flowers?
It is recommended that at least one foot of clearance is left around the whole outdoor unit.
Why won’t my air conditioner turn on?
First check your breaker panel to make sure that the unit has power and the breaker is not tripped. Next call Action Air to send out a service technician to diagnose the problem.
